No display when monitor is connected to graphics card

Help! My monitor won’t show anything when I plug it into my graphics card (I’ve tried hdmi-hdmi and hdmi-dvi d). When i plug it into the hdmi port of the board it’s fine. I thought it was a faulty card but it had the same outcome even after replacement.
Video card: MSI GTX 1030 Aero ITX 2GB OC
Mainboard: GIGABYTE Z370M-D3H
Power supply: Aerocool Rave 80 Plus (800WATTS)

Try testing the board outside the case, to rule out a short.
