hi

i'm a proud owner of a dell xps m170 notebook with a geforce go 7800 gtx.

the driver published on the dell support page is ages old and all the official ones don't recognise my card as a supported card.

does anyone know why this is? why does dell keep the driver that way and doesn't "support" the official forceware drivers?

cheers tc

your inate hatred for dell caused you to miss the fact that nvidia required them to support all new forceware releases. dell doesn't put the 7800gtx go drivers up anymore because of that. go to nvidias website, then download drivers, and choose 7800gtx go and bam there they are.

ps. nice f'in laptop, wish I could afford one

thx

nice answer... i actually did want to buy an alienware but nearly 1200$ more for almost the same machine wasn't worth the buck...

the funny thing is: same build alienware us compared to europe is more than 1000$ difference...

i would be grateful 4 some helpful answers...

well... i already tried this...

at the beginning of the installation an error occurs which says something like: "your card is not supported by this forceware version"....

if you look at the download-page of nv 7800gtx go u read: this driver supports only cards of the above listed manufacturers....

thanks though

oh crap, sorry. to the best of my knowledge the 7800gtx go drivers were supposed to work with all cards.

don't have a 7800gtx go so I was just going by what I've read. 8O

I have a the 7800 go not the gtx but my bud has the GTX both are dells best Nvidia drivers we could find (not including 3rd party drivers like Omega) were on Guru3d.com and they are the 83.60 beta drivers. they seem to work with the dell video cards.
