trying to install windows 7 onto a samsung 960 evo m.2 ssd. the drive doesn't show up in the selection box, so i ran the command prompt, diskpart, list disk: no fixed disks to show.

how to i get the drive to show up?

i have an asus z170 a motherboard, and the drive shows up fine in the bios.

any suggestions?

Solution
New motherboards need additional work with Windows 7 to see the drives because Windows 7 can't load the chipset drivers to see them. Check ASUS support for your motherboard, there should be instructions on how to install Win 7 on it.
