Question No HDMI display on MSI MPG Z690 EDGE DDR 4

I just completed my first build in forever, sadly when I start the system up I get no signal from the HDMI port on the motherboard.

My Hardware:

MoBo: MSI MPG Z690 EDGE WIFI DDR4
CPU: Intel i7-12700k
RAM: G.skill Ripjaws V F4-3200C16D-32GVK
PSU: XPG Reactor CORE 850W
AiO: H150i elite capellix (+core commander fan controller)
Case: Lian Li o11 dynamic Evo

When I power on the system all fans start working, RGB turns on etc.

EZ debug LEDs:
Short blink CPU LED (Red)
Short blink DRAM LED (Orange)
4-6 secs CPU led (red)
4-6 secs VGA led (white)
Boot LED (green) untill I insert BOOT drive and reset(as indicated in motherboard manual).

I haven't tried the Display port yet which I will do when I acquire the cable.

My main questions are:
Do the EZ Debug LEDs indicate a problem with the CPU?
Should I try resetting BIOS?
Will trying Displayport have any effect?
What would 'normal' behaviour for the LEDs look like?
Any help /suggestions would be much appreciated!

Current plan:
  1. Try different monitor.
  2. Try DisplayPort.
  3. Try 1 + 2
  4. Update BIOS
  5. Reset BIOS
  6. Cry and beg to higher power
  7. Deconstruct everything and see if it will work barebones
  8. RMA

monitor cable attached firmly?
I don't see any indication you need to use Display Port but worth a try
it doesn't help your motherboard manual only has 2 pages to cover entire bios.

have you tried updating BIOS?
Don't need to be able to see screen I don't think
Updating BIOS with Flash BIOS Button
  1. Please download the latest BIOS file that matches your motherboard model from the MSI® website.
  2. Rename the BIOS file to MSI.ROM, and save it to the root of the USB storage device.
  3. Connect the power supply to CPU_PWR1 and ATX_PWR1. (No need to install CPU and memory.)
  4. Plug the USB storage device that contains the MSI.ROM file into the Flash BIOS Port on the rear I/O panel.
  5. Press the Flash BIOS Button to flash BIOS, and the LED starts flashing.
  6. The LED will be turned off when the process is completed.

It might help and get monitor working

Yes, but I deserve that. Also I tried turning it on and off again. And yes I have tried PSU on/off and remove+reinsert cables lol.

Yeah that's the struggle I have been dealing with.
I did find some info from MSI where they specifically suggested using displayport. The info wasn't product specific though, just for there motherboards in general. Time to register product to get some actual tech support from them I guess.

Yeah I was thinking about that move too. I feel reluctant to fiddle about as I can't find clear reliable information on EZ Debug LEDs from MSI.

If someone could explicitly tell me the LEDs are supposed to behave like this if there is nothing wrong that would really ease my fears.

Thanks for the nod in the right direction. Appreciate it

this sounds normal

EZ Debug LED is located on the side of 24pin ATX power connector. These LED indicator lights show the status of the key components during the boot process. When the error occurs, the corresponding LED stays lit until the problem is solved.

CPU-LED lit on: please reinstall the CPU and check if there is bending CPU pins or other abnormal on the CPU and CPU socket.
DRAM-LED lit on: The RAM or CPU is not detected or fail or be incompatible with the motherboard.
VGA-LED lit on: the graphics card or the CPU with integrated graphics is not detected or fail
BOOT-LED lit on: Indicates the booting device is not detected or fail

if they only stay on cause drive is missing, motherboard seems okay

I would ask on here before step 6 of your plan - https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php
