The fans on the GPU Spin and the logo lights up

Well I have to ask the obvios questions first. Are you plugging in your display cable into the back of the gpu and not the motherboard? Have you connected the 2 6pin pci express cables from your power supply to the card? If you did try clearing the CMOS.

I definitely plugged everything in correctly, including the 2 6pin PCI-E cables.
I've also just tried clearing the CMOS as you recommended. Nothing seems to have changed

I have the 520w psu, which I read should be enough for this card

Nothing seems to be working. There is no Pci-e in the init display and every time I go back to the bios the option sets back to AUTO. I tried turning the onboard graphics off, still doesn't work. Also I don't know if it's normal, but if I want to get to the bios I can't even use the onboard graphics without plugging out the PCI-E cables out of the 380. I put back the HD 7770 GPU and everything works just like before. I can only guess that my only option is to return the gpu and get a replacement

Obviously problem shouldn't be in the board or bios if your 7770 works. If you can install and start 7770 you are able to do it with 380, so don't think you made something wrong. One of the options before returning would be to try card on some others pc.

You can try to update bios but don't think it will help. About drivers yes they can be a problem, but you should be able to login in os with generic vga drivers if the card (and everything else of pc parts) are okay. After that you are going to install specific drivers for your card.

Well it seems I'm all out of options. I don't have any other PC that I can try the card on. I tried deleting the video drivers and that still didn't help me. Thanks for the help though. I'll write here eventually when I get my replacement.

So I'm back. Instead of getting a replacement I decided to go to a computer store and ask them if they could check if the card is working. Turns out it works !!!

So from what I can understand the main culprit is my motherboard. Now when I google my motherboard it says that it supports 3rd generation PCI-Express interface. What I understood from it was that it supports PCI Express 3.0, which I believe is false because on the mobo it says PCI Express 2.0 http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4505#ov . Thing is, my HD 7770 also needs the PCI Express 3.0, but it works on this motherboard. So is the information false on one of these products ? Or is everything correct and the GPU doesn't work because of a different thing ? I also should mention when I plug everything in with the 380 and turn the system on, no matter how long I wait when I press the power button (not holding) the system shuts down immediately.

So I dug around the forums a bit and found that one dude had a similar problem like me except that he used a r9 290x and the exact same mobo, what fixed it for him was updating the bios. I'll probably end up doing it, what I need to know is how do I find out what my mobo rev is. http://www.gigabyte.lt/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4091#bios There are 4 different versions here and I don't want to f my system up.
This is what it says in CPUID CPU-Z http://prntscr.com/am47k5

Update: I have found that my mobo is the REV 2.0 version. I will try to flash my bios tomorrow.
