Question No POST, BIOS and video output after SSD. Reinstalling HDD makes everything work.

I have an old HP EliteDesk 800 G1 USDT
, specs: Intel i5 vPro, 4GB RAM, Motherboard HP 18E5.

I purchased a Lexar NS100 256GB SSD.
Yesterday I tried to clone the current HDD with Macrium Reflect but the process stopped at 90%, so I thought the current hard disk is probably faulty, so I created a Windows USB Flash Drive in order to do a clean flash.
The problem is that when i swap the HDD with the SSD the PC doesn't POST, enter BIOS, just a black screen with no video output.

I've checked everything, nothing is disconnected. Infact,
If I reinstall the HDD everything works normally. It boots the USB Flash Drive, the OS, everything.

The SSD is not, atleast it shouldn't be, faulty. If i connect it via sata adaptor works normally. It's in GPT format and there are no partitions.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

PS: Forgot to mention that the first time I installed the SSD it actually booted into BIOS by pressing F10, this is where i selected USB Drive in boot order so i could install Windows. It wasn't working (black screen), so i rebooted it and then this happened.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

with Macrium Reflect but the process stopped at 90%,
Your clone wasn't done the right way or you just needed to wait a little longer till it got to 100%.

You mean a clean install...? You flash a BIOS with an update(as BIOS is a sort of firmware). You reinstall the OS(as the OS is a software).

Is secure boot/TPM enabled in your prebuilt?

Try and clear the CMOS, without the SSD, boot off the HDD and backup any mission critical data off of it. Then power down and swap the HDD for the SSD and see if you can reinstall the OS onto said SSD.

Hi, thanks for the answer.

my bad, it got stuck to 90% and then error 0 appeared.

- I mean creating a Windows 10 Installer tool with USB Flash Drive, and then installing it by moving "USB Drive" first in Boot Order in BIOS.

Is secure boot/TPM enabled in your prebuilt?
- Secure boot is disabled.

Is updating the BIOS an option? The BIOS is 2013 and the latest is 2017. I tried with HP Bios Installer (something like that) in os but after loading it doesn't do nothing.

I'm also wondering that maybe this PC just doesn't support certain SSDs including this Lexar, since some brands like Crucial are 100% compatible. Though I don't get how the first time it booted into BIOS.
