Using my old motherboard which worked with a pentium 4 which worked and some ram which worked and a psu that worked.

BUT I am having problems and can not get the computer to post, I disconnected all hard drives and cd rom, the graphics is onboard, I took out the cmos battery and left it out for several hours.

I DONT KNOW WHATS WRONG, can anyone translate this beep code I am getting?

Old System: -- Had this system for very long time and know it works, I am currently using the Q6600 + DDR3 mobo + 8GB ram + 550ti GPU and PSU in my system.

Q6600 Cpu
gigabyte ga-g41m-es2l motherboard
2GB 2x1GB ocz ram
GTX 550ti Gpu
cosair 650W Psu

New System: -- This system is old and has been working fine, the processor should work, the ram is from my system above which I know works, the motherboard too.

Pentium 4 524 Cpu
gigabyte ga-g41m-es2l motherboard -- same motherboard
2GB 2x1GB ocz ram -- same ram
Onboard GPU
generic 300W PSU

I suspected it was the PSU but I tested with a brand new corsair and same problems so I rule that out. Also a few days earlier I tested the PSU with a psu tester and it showed working.

I even suspected the cpu and was paranoid about touching the underside, so I took it out and clean it with alcohol and reseated it and still same problem.

I have a feeling it is the motherboard, but it is strange for it to just break after moving it.

What I really want to know is what does those beeps mean, I uploaded a video on youtube but for some reason the sound is not working properly.

Anyways the beep goes, 1 long, 21 short and then turn off. Some boots there is no beep other times there is but they all have in common no display.

any ideas?

I put the Pentium 4 back into its old motherboard and it works!

so my conclusion is either the new motherboard broke while installing or the cpu is not supported (even though it say it is on the gigabyte website)

Its not clear to me what is new.... What did u do? Replace Q6600 Cpu with P4?

hi, ok I just put my q6600 back into the motherboard and also downgraded the bios from f8 to f6, as on their website it says the cpu is support in bios f6.

When I put the P4 back into the motherboard it still didn't work, same annoying beep code.

So my conclusion is gigabyte are lying bastards and their motherboard does not even support the pentium 4 cpu as they state on their website.

Can you come to any other conclusion?
