So I'm honestly at a loss here, a while ago my older brother decided to take the plunge and build his first rig, he went pretty deep getting the following

650W power supply

A GTX1050 TI 4gb video card

32gb DDR4 RAM in 8gb sticks, (4 total)

An Asus Z170 gaming motherboard

And an intel I7 6700K processor

His monitor uses an HDMI connection and works fine if he hooks it up to his xbox or anything else, but the PC refuses to do it, this computer is brand new, I don't believe he's loaded windows or any drivers onto it.

We've tried putting the drivers for the mobo in, and plugging the monitor into that. Still nothing.

We've tried DVI with another monitor, nothing.

The monitors are both powered on and plugged in securely.

All parts function, case fans, cpu fans and gpu fans all running. GPU lights up, only things not tried are booting without the GPU in at all, also as far as he's aware, there was no driver disc for his GPU in the box.

If anyone needs more info please ask, I just wanna help him fix this.

(PS Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong neighborhood, first time posting on this site.)
