no response from fax

When I try to send a fax, nothing happens. no error message, no fax tones,
no fax.
Outgoing message folder has the fax, properties report fatal error and
retries exceeded.

State how you installed the Fax program, how you are trying to send the fax,
and whether the fax program ever worked.

Hello
The program was installed with XP, I have tried to fax from the print dialog
and the send a fax icon, the fax program worked the last time I used it, and
I have installed SP2. Thanks for helping.

Also, The modem works and I can receive faxes.

So if I understand you correctly:
1. Fax worked fine
2. You installed SP2
3. Now any attempt to send a fax fails to invoke the modem and produces no
error message?

Is your modem on the Win XP HCL list and running the latest drivers?

Below is text from modem query. The driver is from Microsoft---LT WinModem
and no updates were available.

08-19-2004 15:36:56.640 - Modem type: Lucent Win Modem
08-19-2004 15:36:56.640 - Modem inf path: mdmlt3.inf
08-19-2004 15:36:56.640 - Modem inf section: Modem_PNP_DFT
08-19-2004 15:36:56.640 - Matching hardware ID: pci\ven_11c1&dev_0442

also, I don't use the fax that often so the fact that I just installed SP2
may just be coincidence.

That does not sound like an analog fax modem on the Windows HCL list to me.
I've not seen a Winmodem yet that is.

Remove SP2 and see what happens. I have a Lucent Winmodem that works fine
for faxing.
