When I connect my monitor http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236100 with my graphics card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102908 with a DVI cable, no signal seems to go through.

However, when I use the same cable and connect it my motherboard (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130254), everything seems fine.

I've disabled my motherboard's onboard graphics before connecting to my graphics card, by following these instructions: http://techtips.salon.com/disable-built-in-vga-card-msi-487.html

I've also tried installing the graphics card's drivers, which came in a CD, before connection, but it didn't seem to make a difference.

Some photos below, if it helps.

With the DVI cable connected to the motherboard.

Close up of the graphics card ports.

Another close up of the graphics card ports.

The other side of the DVI cable connected to the monitor.

Did a quick fix on the links.

External power to the new card? Don't you just plug the graphics card into the motherboard? Sorry, it's my first time building a PC ;_;

Here's the current setup:

I'm not familiar with that particular card but you'll need to connect it to your PSU as wel or it won't have the power to operate. Just plugging it into the Motherboard won't work. When you switch on your computer, do the fans on the graphics card work? If not, then you have not connected the power correctly.

Yep. That was definitely the problem and it's been fixed now. Thanks so much guys! :love:

It also seems I forgot to connect the fan at the back, so I'll go fix that as well.

By the way, what's the recommended software for benchmarking? And what or some other obligatory things to do on a new PC?
