"No signal detected" on monitor.. but everything is connected fine

Hey guys, so I've run into a little problem.. I just built a new PC and connected everything where it has to go. I plugged my VGA cable from my motherboard into my monitor (I don't have an HDMI port on it so I can't connect it to my GPU yet) and it shows "no signal detected". I looked inside and everything (including the GPU) is working... can anyone help me with this? I can't access the bios or anything because nothing shows up. And yes I have put the right input on my monitor.

Hi, What components? The motherboard video port might not work if using a Ryzen CPU. In this case, you'd need a graphics card.

Hi, I have: i5-7600k, geforce GTX 1060 and my motherboard is the Z270-A Pro from MSI.

When graphics card installed, the motherboard ports are disabled. So, you'd either connect the monitor to the graphics card, or remove the card and connect the monitor to the motherboard.

You will need an active adapter connecting your GPU to your monitor.

Yeah, I got an adapter from hdmi to dvi-d and it works now! Thanks!
