During the installation of a Hyper212 EVO I noticed the locking mechanism on the motherboard (Asus M5A97 LE R 2.0) didnt work as when removing the stock cooler the stock paste bond between the CPU and stock heatsink wa so strong it pulled it out of its socket. (No bent pins btw)

Anyways, after the install I turned it on and theres no signal to the PC. I tested it wih a different monitor and still no signal. This means it could be:
A. The DVI Cable
B. The graphics card
Or (hopefully not)
C. The CPU socket is now messed up on the motherboard and its now essentially running without a CPU.

Halp.

Just spit balling. unlock the socket then put in chip and re-lock. Nothing should bend unless it came out at an odd angle be gentle either way. Then try to reassemble the heatsink and use on board graphics (assuming you have them) if you can. If you get no POST then its your GPU. Cable can only be checked if you have a spare or alternate cable/connection option available. If you have a pc speaker handy there may be beep codes.
EDIT: i didn't catch the bit about using the stock HSF it that worked initially you may have to retry it just to rule out the possibility of your 212 causing a short. If it works with the stock HSF then try the 212 again. All of the previous suggestions would still apply.

this is an old thread, so just out of curiosity I'll tell you what happened. Well, my worst fear happened, the motherboard socket was messed up, but not the worst scenario. The AMD chip didn't have any bent pins so I ordered a new board, this time from MSI and it's working wonders.
