Hello, recently I've got a problem with my graphics card on pci-e slot: it stopped working. I assumed the card is dead and bought nvidia gt230 from ebay. When I turn on the PC the fan on gt230 starts spinning, but i still get no signal, only through onboard-vga. I've read the problem might be PSU, mine is 400W -- can it be the case?
BIOS is set to use video card on PCI-E first.
Motherboard is Geforce 7050m-m v2.0, AMD x64, 4GB RAM. Windows 7 Professional N. Device manager doesn't see gt230.

Thanks in advance for any help!

The card is not listed in device manager, only the onboard graphic chip.

To be sure I followed your advice and downloaded the driver, but it too can't find any compatible card.

PCI/PnP Setup -> Init Display First -> PCI / PCI Express Card / Onboard

I've set it to PCI Express Card. Doesn't work. 🙁

Or what else do you mean?

There is also "Allocate IRQ to PCI VGA" on "Yes", I don't know what it does

ok! try this:

http://support2.microsoft.com/mats/hardware_device_problems/en-usmethod

And click "run now"

If not you can try this more advanced method to see hidden devices:

Press the Windows key + X
1.Select Command Prompt (Admin)
2.Type set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1 and hit enter
3.Type Start DEVMGMT.MSC and hit enter.
4.Once in Device Manager hit the View menu and select show hidden devices.

Now if you see and unknown device, thats the card try installing the driver again and let me know

What BIOS option could it be?

And in other discussion I've read the problem might be, PSU doesnt have enough power. 500W should solve the problem. What do you think about it?

Not at the moment, i don't have any other mainboard with PCIE.

Will try BIOS update next, maybe it helps
ersion 09/01/05 (2009/01/13 released)
Update Description Release Reason:
-To increase the compatibility of memory module.
-To increase the compatibility of PCIE device.
-Amendments to some BIOS setup menu display problem.

--------------------
>> this card is really not power consuming
well, according to specs it's 75W...

Is it plugged? If not plug it...

Ehm.. there is nothing which would fit. Are you sure we mean the same? The white slot on the top left corner is SPDIFIN. And I mean this yellow, rectangular thing right to it... I had the idea it could be some power connector, but googling PCIE power connector brings different pictures. And I couldn't google what this thing is. What adapter do I need for it?

It seems dead PCIE is quite common for this mainboard model. I will do further testing, but this is most probably the reason.

Anyway, thanks for your effort, bjsm !

The issue here is the Nvidia 7050/630a chipset, which is compined south-&northbridge of the mainboard. I could solve the problem for now by heating it up (ca. 300 degree C for couple of seconds), but probably not for long.
