No Signal, GPU or PSU Problem??

Hi, I have a problem. I use to have a GTX 660 SC. Then I decided to upgrade to a GTX 1060 6gb after around 2 years of having a GTX 660. When I was playing games, around 5-10 minutes into the game, I would lose signal to my monitor, BUT I would still hear sound. I read a lot of other people with similar problems, but I saw them not "hearing" any sounds. Which makes me wonder what is going on with my situation. I've tried changing my output from a VGA to a DVI, did nothing to fix the issue. I don't know if it is a Power supply problem, or my Graphics card.

My power supply is a Kentek 1050 Watt.
GPU: GTX 1060 6gb.
CPU: i5 4670
RAM: 8gb

That power supply doesn't seem too reliable, but you can't be sure without some testing.

Try, if possible, to use the GPU in another computer, or a different modern GPU in your computer. If the GPU runs fine in the other computer, its your PSU - if it gives the same problem in the other PC, the GPU is faulty.

If you test a different GPU in your PC(make sure that that GPU is working fine), and get the same problem, it's the PSU. If the other one works fine, the GPU is the problem.

If you can't do either, try running a different game, maybe re-install drivers and Windows.

Hi, thanks for the suggestions. Is it also possible that the new graphics card is taking up way more power than my previous one, which is then causing my power supply to go under heavy load which then causes the crashing? Because this started happening right after I switched out the cards.

Well the 1060 has a requirement of 120 W, the GTX 660 has a requirement of 140 W. I doubt the 1060 uses more power - can you specify which model of the 1060 you have?

Newer generations are usually more efficient, so they consume less power for the same performance. But your PSU could be failing - that is a possibility. But more power consumption by a new GPU? Hmm.. I just find it odd that I encounter problems right after I installed it. So most likely it is defective?

I've tried it in Rocket League, Squad, Arma 3, American Truck Simulator, Euro Truck Simulator 2. All the same results.Perhaps I should reinstall the GTX 660 back in and see what happens.

Yes, I did remove the old drivers with DDU. One thing that did occur is that I did not remove the drivers before I took out the old card. So basically I had the old drivers installed when I added the new card in.

Re-installing the drivers now, I will get back to you when I fully tested in a game if the issue still occurs.

So far so good, tried in Rocket League, and Euro Truck Simulator 2. Not 100% sure if it is fixed yet. Will test it out more tomorrow.

From what I can tell, I recently tried it with Black Desert Online on max settings, and nothing happened. So it must of been a driver issue. Thanks for all the help and suggestions.
