Question No signal to monitor since upgrading from a 1080 to a 9070 XT ?

After upgrading to a 9070 XT from a GTX 1080, my PC boots up but there's no signal to the monitor from either this GPU or from the iGPU.

I wiped the Nvidia drivers with ddu and installed the detection ones for AMD. Ive tried CMOS battery and have a new hdmi cable since the new GPU is no longer compatible with the dvi cable. I'm not sure if part of the gold fingers closest to the front of the pc aren't being seated properly, tho it is clicking in to place.

I'm obviously connecting the GPU to the power supply as well. The PC boots up fine but no signal to monitor. Any help would be appreciated

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

I'm not sure if part of the gold fingers closest to the front of the pc aren't being seated properly, tho it is clicking in to place.
Regardless of what component you're using, they should always be fully seated. Might want include images to illustrate the difference you speak of.

Power supply 750W
750W is the advertised wattage of the unit. What is the make, model and age of the PSU?

Plug it into the mobo to test if the pc works at all.

You said you were using DVI before? Did you change the input in the monitor options? Sometimes it does not switch automatically, you have to tell it to use the hdmi input.

Also, you said you uninstall the Nvidia drivers with DDU and installed the AMD ones (I assume you are talking about the AMD autodetect software when you say "detection one")? When did you do that since you don't have a display? This is an important information since we have no idea what you did.

So I uninstalled the Nvidia drivers and installed the AMD ones before installing the new GPU and having the probloms

From DDU

Remove the Old NVIDIA Drivers:
Run DDU in Safe Mode: Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode. This ensures a clean and stable environment for removing the drivers.
Open DDU: Launch the DDU application.
Select NVIDIA: In the DDU interface, select "NVIDIA" from the dropdown menu.
Clean and Shutdown: Choose the "Clean and Shutdown" option to completely remove the drivers and reboot your computer.
Check for Residual Files: After the computer restarts, you may want to run DDU again to ensure there are no remaining driver files or registry entries.

So, if I were you. I would run DDU and remove both Nvidia and AMD drivers (You don't have to reboot for each operation. Just run both uninstalls in safe mode as the instructions state)

So yeah that's what I did sorry I wasn't more clear, I followed a tutorial
I've also just tried back in the old GPU and still nothing to the monitor with the hdmi or DVI with the GPU or motherboard, so confused I thought it was just a problem with how I was installing the GPU but now it looks like something more

double check youve connected the GPU correctly not sure what case or vertical mount with riser cable .. ( if using )

Double check all your components are connected correctly and cables ..

i would also check the GPU manufactures specs on power supply wattage to ..

make sure the PSU is turned on .. stupid answer i know but i spent 2 hours once trying to get my pc to boot only to figure out i was turning the psu off every time instead of on :)

That one was funny and at the same time annoying i keep plugging everything back in and turning the PSU on which was actually off then back off which was on before i unplugged everything to check connections!!

check the monitor is working correctly is there anything else you can plug in to it to see ?
alternatively is there a Tv you can plug your PC into to see if that works ?

So I've definitely been turning the PSU on as the pc boots and all the fans turn on, only thing I would say is the fans on the GPU don't but I read that that's probably because they don't need to until it gets hot
I've connected my laptop to the monitor and that worked fine 😭
And after checking recommended power supply it says 750w should be fine. I haven't changed anything apart from the GPU and CMOS since it was working fine so I can't see how anything would be unplugged that shouldn't be unless it's something to do with the drivers but I can't get on with either GPU to check so a bit lost

not daisy chaining your GPU?

dasiy chaining is when you run ( usually PSU supplied cables )1 cable to your GPU which has the split on one cable to plug into a 2 socket GPU ?

Is there any RGB on your GPU that lights up to show you have power there atleast ?

I can't lie I did daisy chain the first time I plugged it in without realising but now I've fixed that but no I'm not seeing any rbg lights either and I can't find any information on whether there's supposed to be any. Could I have messed up one of the cables by daisy chaining the first time?

nah not likely thats more of a sustained thing where your pulling to much power though one cable..

Does your mobo have a dedicated hdmi plug on it by chance ?

if so trying pulling the gpu out altogether and pluging straight from the mobo to the monitor as the 11900k well any K version Intel cpu has the igpu..

If it does and you get a signal then its could be a GPU issue ,,

i would then try to reseat the GPU back in and try again ..

what 9070xt did you buy?

So with no GPU in there's still no display to the monitor with the hdmi in the motherboard
Got the XFX Radeon RX 9070xt white with 16gb
Though now it seems like it's nothing to do with the GPU since there's no display without it either right?

Also you can switch from D GPU ( dedicated GPU ) to IGPU ( intergrated GPU ) in bios ..

it may have defaulted to IGPU and with nothing connected to the mobo it it will boot all day long but not display anything ..

so if you can get into bios with a display see what settings it is at

Is there any way to access bios without display on my monitor

i dont know if it boots then by all logic it should work fans spinning etc etc means its working so there should be a signal ..

same hdmi cable used from the pc to monitor and lap top to monitor ?

Yup same cable literally just bought it, I'm confused as well 😂
It looks like everything's working just nothing on screen

No LEDs light up it does look kinda dead
hmmm i know you have probably tried this alot of times pull the card out again ..
wipe down the fingers with a clean cloth so by fingers i mean the pcie x16 PCB on the card ..

then blow out i guess with your mouth the pcie x16 slot on your mobo ..

then reseat your GPU into the slot and try to boot again ..

dont use any riser cables or anything if used just pure GPU to mobo

check all your cables are connected from the PSU to GPU
