Question No sound at all in Windows after updating motherboard BIOS (UEFI) and my Nvidia GPU drivers ?

Changing audio settings bit rate etc gave partial sound then? I don't understand relevance to this compared to your original problem with no sound at all.

Could try DDU (display driver uninstaller) and use it to remove everything Nvidia and start fresh. Yes you can delete extracted Nvidia driver from c drive once install finishes. Think from memory there's an option you can tick that lets installer delete downloaded/ extracted files after installing.

Hi yes it was no sound at all on Bitstream and partial sound on PCM.

Now I am happy to say sound is working back to normal now after updating the Nvidia drivers to the latest and changing the PCM setting back to the default Bitstream in the TV setting. I now see Dolby Atmos notification on my tv screen when windows loaded up so dolby atmos is working now however I don't know which content supports dolby atmos natively or does windows upscale all stereo sound to dolby atmos?

Lastly In Sound Control Panel in windows when I try to fine tune the Dolby Atmos settings by clicking on Configure or Properties, why don't my settings be saved after clicking on Apply as I don't see them saved when restarting my computer.

Cheers,

I know a little about Atmos and perhaps you should let it go, not really worth pursuing unless have the proper equipment. I mean having ceiling speakers, Bluray movies that contain additional tracks for true Atmos experience, otherwise it's simulated and looks like it's only minimal, not notice it at all type thing. Streaming services seems hit and miss depending on movie/content. I guess content is there, just challenging to find.

Okay before coming to the end of this thread. I post what I see in windows sound manager to double check to prevent possible future audio issues to save me from posting in this forum again:

I am in the Sound Control Panel in Windows, which one does my MSi motherboard support as I can see a few devices, which one shall I enable for output?:

- Realtek(R) Speakers

- Realtek(R) HD Audio 2nd output

Which 1 from the two above is for 3.5mm headphone jack output located at the front of my PC?

Lastly for sound input devices which one is for the 3.5mm mic jack input located at the front of my pc?:

- Realtek(R) Microphone

- Realtek(R) Line In

- Realtek(R) Stereo Mix

So many devices its confusing. I see 3 same Nvidia High Definition Audio Outputs in windows sound control panel. Why is there 3 of the same when I only have 1 Nvidia GPU with just 1 HDMI port?

Finally which Bluetooth hi-res/hi-def lossless wireless audio codecs does windows 11 support if I decide to buy wireless headphones?

Cheers,

Realtek(R) Speakers

- Realtek(R) HD Audio 2nd output

Speakers is the analog part of Realtek, so fpa 3.5mm uses speakers.

HD, would that be optical? I think it is.

Realtek(R) Microphone

- Realtek(R) Line In

Both, line in receives a signal like microphone, just calling it microphone for simplicity.

Displayport also carries audio.

Many thanks for Clarifying.

Lastly there was a post earlier that the Dolby App from the MS Store required for the Dolby Atmos license and audio output is not free. However I opened the app and it shows on screen within the app the cost for headphones license but no cost for home theatre. To confirm it is not free for Home theatre too as I do recall its free for xbox.

Even if there's not that much Dolby Atmos content, the stereo upscale to dolby atmos is better right?
