I am absolutely clueless as to what is going on, everything was working fine last night. But now nothing is playing sound except from browsers and skype. I have tried black ops 2, gta v, shadow of mordor, steam trailers for games, but to absolutely no avail. It's really starting to annoy me, as all i want to do is enjoy my Sunday afternoon. Any reply will be appreciated. And there will always be the odd bloke that asks, I am using Razer krakens, plugged into the side of my Blackwidow. I've completely uninstalled Razer Synapse, and restarted my PC countless times.
Cheers

Does the problem happen on just steam and steam games or on other games as well? (like flash games and stuff) Make sure you have the latest version of DirectX and the most recent sound drivers. I had this problem a few months ago and updating DirectX was what fixed it for me...
Hi,

Are you using the speaker of your monitor or TV via HDMI or are you using just a regular 3.5mm cable for a speaker?
- Start by checking Playback Devices and see if your settings are all correct.
- If you're using HDMI or your TV right click on it and select Set Default then click Apply then OK.
- First if you're using the speaker of a TV via HDMI, try to uninstall/reinstall the graphics driver.
- Go to Device Manager and uninstall the graphics card driver.
- Do also check Programs and Features and uninstall anything related to your graphics card.
- Next is to download and install the latest graphics driver.
- Once done reboot your PC then test if you'll get your sound back.

If you're using a regular 3.5mm speaker.
- Uninstall/reinstall the sound card driver.
- Once done do test your PC and see if you'll get the sound back.

If all these will not work I would suggest reinstalling Windows 10.
