Im using a brand new built computer and I am getting no sound/not able to hear through monitor. I dont have any headphones so i want it to play through the monitor. I tried updating the sound drivers and im pretty sure theyre up to date, on the sound page it shows "Speakers" and says not plugged in and then has RealTek Digital Output and RealTek Digital Output (Optical) which are set as the default devies and show as working. When I play a video there are sound bars next to them that show sound is working but i still cant hear anything

Solution
Is your monitor connected with HDMI or Displayport? If it's any other connector they don't support sound so you'd have to use an analogue sound cable as well as the video cable. Also, most monitors don't have speakers so make sure yours does.

Solution
this might be caused by your monitor/hdmi connection not being the default sound device. to solve this, right click the "sound" icon in the notification area, then click playback devices. find the one that has the name of your monitor/gpu manufacturer (AMD/Nvidia) and set that as the default sound device.
