Just did my first PC build. Everything is working except for my USB ports. In device manager the tree of controllers isn't there but in other devices, it has a USB controller with an error. None of my USB devices will work; Wifi adapter, audio recording hardware, etc... Though my mouse and keyboard do work even though they're connected via USB... I've searched for driver updates in windows, went on my MOBOs website and I couldn't find any solutions. Then I disabled the errored USB controller. Now my mouse and keyboard won't work. Is there a way to revert back to before I disabled the USB controller? And what can I do about my USB controllers??

I have a gigabyte lga1151 H110-A. I was finally able to update the USB drivers which made them show up but when I restarted my pc it wouldn't boot up. Could it be a Windows issue? I just turned it on this morning and it's telling me that my copy of Windows isn't genuine. It's also failing to update anything from Windows for this reason. I'm guessing if I get a new copy of Windows it would update everything and I would live happily ever after?

I assumed you had a licenced copy of win 7. Not being activated would indeed have stopped windows updates.

If you have a licence, contact Microsoft and ask them about it, otherwise buy a licence and enter it and it should enable updates.

I do have a genuine copy, windows was just being dumb. I found my windows key buried in my closet and used it to confirm I am indeed legal. No change. Could it be a defective motherboard?
