No USB

Hello,
Just formatted and reloaded Win XP and my thumb drive will not appear in "My Computer"(any port or hub. Unable to locate with "find new hardware" Any idea's?

Is it SP2 or greater?

Yes, SP3 installed. USP ports do not recognize any peripherals. Installed a pci 2-port card and that works OK. OS and updates working OK and are up to date. Thumb drive works OK in other PC's.

What motherboard is this? If it's an intel board, get the latest INF. You might just need to install the drivers before it will recognize the device, therefore windows update won't help.

Also, check the BIOS to make sure that Legacy USB is on, and that all the options are turned on relating to USB.

One more thing, is the usb stick formatted as UDF?

You hit it......updated the Intel MB, installed the drivers and "SCHAZAM"! All is well again. I thank you very much for your timely response and assistance. I owe ya one!
