Help. Ok, so I installed Kaspersky Internet security last week. all was good until they asked if i wanted to secure my transactions. after an update, i rebooted the computer. Now, no internet. I have burned thru 6 Kaspersky tech people who gave up and said sorry. went thru 3 tech people at my ISP. Here's the issue. My active network is unidentified public network. No network access.
Diagnostic found problem: "Ethernet" doesn't have a valid IP configuration.
I have a laptop plugged in with ethernet. works fine. wifi on tablet fine.
uninstalled kaspersky network adapter as well as my Realtek PCIe family controller and reinstalled driver. cmd administrator ipconfig reset. I'm on a desktop running windows 10.
Just can't figure this out. Been at this since 4 am. Someone please help me. I would really appreciate it.

Solution
If you keep your documents on a separate drive, it's pretty easy to reset windows 10.
(separate DRIVE not Partition) You may want to physically disconnect your non-OS drive just for 100% surety that it won't lose the files.

Just go to Settings
Update and Security
Recovery
Reset This PC
Get Started.

Choose the delete everything option. (Not the keep files one)
That will reset windows to a fresh copy.
Hmm, this might sound complicated, but you need to... like surgically remove your computers network information.

Open the Registry Editor. (Start/Search/Run "regedit.exe")
Then you have to navigate through the following:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
>
SOFTWARE
>
MICROSOFT
>
Windows NT
>
CurrentVersion
>
NetworkList
>
Profiles
>
And then right click the little folder {8bfas-fda342-8yu97-h9h} type things and Delete them. (DO NOT DELETE THE PROFILES FOLDER)

Then try connecting to the network.

Also try doing an Ipconfig /release and then IPconfig /renew in CMDprompt.

Also make sure your Network Adapter properties are set to automatically obtain IP and DNS info.

AND make sure you CHECK OFF IPV6 protocol in your network adapter properties.

Thanks for answering. I have tried the ipconfig/release then renew several times. all adapter settings are set.
so when i go into registry to delete the little folder, you typed {8bfas-fda342-8yu97-h9h} . was this just an example because i don't have an exact file like that. I have 5 different ones in the profile folder. Should i delete them all? And also, shouldn't the Ethernet adapter say LAN? it says unidentified public network.

yes, it was just an example, delete all 5.
This is what a "working" etherrnet adapter looks like:

The IpConfig release renew is for AFTER you do the above things.

Ok, Mr. Mason. I have deleted the profile entries, reset the ip address. New error message says : An error occured while renewing interface Ethernet. Unable to contact your DHCP server. Request has timed out.
I have my laptop wire connected to the linksys wireless router as well as security cameras and numerous other things. All working right. I don't understand. It must be something in the desktop computer. Did I get a virus and it's not the Kaspersky Ethernet adapter that jazzed me up?
I have my windows 10 on a separate ssd drive from my docs and pics on another drive. Can I repair windows? What do I do now? Crap!

Ok, so I finally figured it out. I went to activate windows defender so i have some kind of protection if I ever got online. It said there were still antivirus files in the system. Yesterday I did a system restore and it must have put files back in so it was clashing. so now I am back online after running the removal tool in safemode but windows defender is still saying there are more files. Ugh. I'll keep plugging away but thank you so much for helping me.
