No windows after new IO devices

Does win2k not like it when you change the monitor, mouse, and keyboard.
It was working fine, until I did that, now it gets ready to go into windows, but changes its mind.

What does it do exactly? Swapping devices like that should be fine.

That's what I thought, but is the only thing I can figure since it was working before I switch. It goes threw it's thing and just when you think the icons are coming on the screen goes blank, but the computer stays running. Maybe it would take longer to get into windows, anyway I have another mobo in there now.
