Noctua cooler height specs tricked me.

I bought the In Win 303 Dragon Edition case, it has a maximum CPU heat sink size of 160mm. I also bought the Noctua NH U14S TR4 cooler for my CPU.
In the cooler manual, it says that the cooler is 140mm tall, but I see now on the website that it's 165mm tall.
In the manual, and pdf online, it reads: "the NH-U14S has become a benchmark for high-end 140mm single tower coolers".
Does this not mean that the cooler is 140mm tall?

The cooler is 165mm high. What they meant by "140mm" is the diameter of the fan cooling it.

Yeah, but so are many other air coolers, even from Noctua. For example, NH-D14 needs 160mm of height clearance, 5mm less than the one you chose:
