Hi everyone. I've pretty much finalized the list for my first build. I'll attach the pcpartpicker markup at the end.

I've chosen the Noctua DH-14 as a fan, due to the amazing reviews of the item. However, it is very large and I have heard that it can be tricky to install, as it goes over the RAM. This is my first time building and I am wondering if it is worth the trouble. Do I even need such a cooler for my build?

Thanks for any help!

It actually has one of the easiest air cooler mounting systems available. Saying if you need it or not depends on if you want to get some great overclocks or not.

Why not wait for the NH-D15 coming out that will support you ram height?
Or just get low profile RAM at a slightly lower speed (you don't really notice anything past 1600-1866MHz that much unless you use applications that demand it).

Thanks for the info, but do you think I should replace the RAM for the cooler rather than just getting a smaller cooler. Or is the Noctua really worth it? Im not planning on overclocking

So you think it's worth replacing the RAM for the cooler? Is the Noctua that good? I will be rendering/editing/streaming.

It isn't worth it for you. I would just get a Noctua NH-U12S. It will be great and quiet.

This sounds more suitable for me, and it won't overheat?

Your CPU will be nice and cool. :)
