Hey

I'm building a 2007-ish system for games around that time and needs a cooler for an Intel Core 2 Extreme qx6850 3,00 GHz (LGA775). My motherboard is an Asus P5Q Deluxe.

I want to try Noctua, either the NH-D14 or the NH-U9B SE2. I'm not quite sure if the NH-D14 will fit the P5Q Deluxe. On Noctua's website it says that it is compatible with this motherboard, but when measuring from the information sheet from the same website, it seems like it will not fit, because of the copper heat pipe around the socket.

Anyways, does anyone knows if the smaller NH-U9B SE2 cooler would be sufficient for the 130 tdp qx6850 with no overclocking?

Do you know if it will fit the P5Q Deluxe board?
And what do you mean by "clear all the components"?

It is listed as being fully compatible on the Noctua site with no warnings.
So it will fit.

I meant that no motherboard componnts would get in th eway of the heat sink.

Your only issue is whether the height will fit in your computer case.

The height is 160mm, so you need to allow 10mm for the motherboard and socket, so your case should be about 170mm wide.
