Noisy grapics card or problem?

New gpu: gainward 560ti golden sample, old: Asus 4870 dark knight. Both play bf4 on med settings but the 560 at much better frame rates.

The 4870 however hardly made any noise while playing this but the 560ti is very noisy in comparison. Should it be very noisy in comparison or could there be a problem ?

what is the sound? if it is rattling or something similar something could be hitting the cooling fan. Looking at the cooler online it should be very quiet being a dual open air cooler. I'd check to make sure there isn't anything hitting the fans, otherwise you might have a bad card.

Its a healthy whooshing sound but very load, sounds like a jet warming up its engines. Checked the fans they are totally clear. The card is beautifully quiet when not under load but like a jet when gaming??????

download msi afterburner or evga precision. These programs allow you to create custom fan profiles so you can manually lower fan speeds and see if that helps. If you can't keep the noise at an acceptable level while also cooling your card then i suggest a RMA.

What he said about those programs. Your fans might be going to full throttle way earlier than they need to. I set my GPU fans to stay around the 50% mark unless things start to get decently warm and it stays silent.

I set my fans to be at 30% until 40C (so it will be silent when I am not gaming), then to jumps to 50% and stays there until it hits 60C, then it ups the speed at an even rate so that if it hits 75C, the fans are at 100%. My graphics card never goes beyond 65C though. That is a very safe fan profile.
