Noob ATX12V connector question

If I have the new 24-pin connector do I still need to use the 4 pin ATX12V connector also? I have an Antec Truepower 2.0 550 Watt EPS12V and Im using it with a Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe.

The manual says I need to install both but the pwer supply doesn't have a 4 pin connector.

I needed it (board: striker extreme), without i got "CPU INIT" error the hole time after starting...after installing the 4-pin connection, it runs throught...but i think, you can also use the 8-pin, like it's written in the manual
