My parts have all finally arrived (bought all for 530) and I'm ready to put them together. Before opening them, I realize that I really don't even know if the Video card I have (Asus HD 7850 1gb) will fit in the case (Rosewill Challenger-U3 ATX Mid Tower Case) and motherboard. (Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard) I mean physically fit; it is 10.5 inches long for my video card and I thought I read a thread here saying I could fit a card that is 11 inches with my build.

Is this true? I don't want to open up my parts and realize that I have the wrong card and wrong everything. Thanks for helping out a new computer builder.

Solution
Maybe go to local PC shop and look for longer standoffs for case, like first from left side on this picture. With them your GPU will perfectly fit to pcie slot.

Could you guys help with the other issues I have?

1.The three multicolored, thin cables say "HDD LED", "Power SW" and "Reset SW" and come from the case. Each of this cables has two pins and on one pin there is an "arrow". I assume that is for the + polarity. There are 10 white, two pin sockets that I can choose from on the motherboard. Even after consulting the users guide it isn't very clear to me how to install them.

2. Since my motherboard doesn't have 3.0 USB header, does that mean that my front 3.0 USB ports won't have 3.0 speed? With the 3.0 to 2.0 convertor cable, will my front 3.0 USB ports work at 2.0 speeds? The back USB ports are 3.0 so would they be at the fast speed?

3.I also have a 4 pin "speaker" cable that I don't know where to install, nor do I know where to put the other end of the two inch cable in.

I'm kind of freaked out now since I didn't have the standoffs installed and I tried to turn on my computer a few times.

How can I tell that the motherboard is damaged if it in fact is damaged? I read in some other threads that some people used their computers for a year without standoffs before it died on them.

I still haven't been able to turn on the computer; I don't know if the system panel connector cables were installed correctly even with the picture help. (I could install them in two directions) The light on the video card and the light on the motherboard do come on if that helps.

Try connecting -only power switch-, and see if it turn on. Then connect other cables.
I also had problems after cleaning PC, it didn't want to turn on. Removing psu cable from wall for 10 min fix the problem.
If power switch don't work try connecting reset switch to power sw. connector, and see if it works.

Weird, I have everything connected and installed except:

1. The USB 3.0 cable. (The adaptor cable to connect it to the motherboard is coming in the mail soon)

2. The Sata cable going to the hard drive. (I broke the first one when I was too rough; also coming in the mail soon)

3. I turned on the power supply with just the power switch and no luck.

4. Just moved the power switch to the reset slot and no luck either. 🙁

The computer's fans aren't moving and nothing is lighting up. What should be happening? Is there any way that the orientation of the cables is not like you put in the picture? The power supply cables are attached to everything, the standoffs are installed, the power supply and monitor cables are plugged in, all the fans installed, the CPU and Ram seated...I don't know what's up.

Sorry for being such a rookie. I know you guys get these threads a lot. But after installing the CPU correctly everything worked, fans are going, lights are turned on, and it's amazing! So excited! Last questions (I promise).

1. So my build has an Fx 6300 (cost 110) and an ASUS 7850 (cost 105) 1gb video card. How fast of a video card could I get before the Fx6300 was bottlenecked?

2. Is there a general rule like a 100 dollar type CPU would go with a 200 video card for a balanced gaming system? Like a 1:2 ratio of CPU to video card dollars?

3. Why is my little speaker beeping incessantly when I have the computer on?

1. It depends on game. For most games fx 6300 will be great, in some it will cause bottleneck BUT only with something like 7950 in CF. So you don't have to worry about CPU at this time. You can buy whatever gpu you can, it will run great.

2. No general rule, just don't buy 400$ gpu with intel celeron :)

3.Don't know, it's beeping while pc is on?
Try update all drivers. For motherboard, try to download them from internet. Those from CD are usually outdated.

Thanks a lot. Sounds a lot like "it depends." Depends on the game, how many cores are utilized, or if it is video card intensive.

Do people actually buy Celerons anymore??? I guess you could get it for a business if you just need to do basic office work but the price difference between the celerons and the pentiums, i3, and APUs is like 30 bucks sometimes for laptops.

I didn't install the RAM properly. Ugh. I was afraid of damaging it but really had to push it hard to seat it. Surprised me. Now it works and I just need to get my keyboard that is somewhere else and the sata cable that is coming in a few days from newegg. I broke the first one that came with the motherboard; too forceful. 🙁
