Ok so please don't laugh but I have a Noob Overclocking question.
Im putting together a home rendering machine for casual rendering with maya, cinema 4d and after effects as and when. Its a 2600k cooled by a silver arrow in a zalman z11 with 4 fans for the air.
Now here's the deal, money is tight and i want my cpu to last as long as possible and only want to increase the clock speed when actually hitting render. Can i set up a profile at stock clock and then another profile at say 4.4ghz and then switch between the two (even if it means a restart). Or is it not really worth the hassle.
I'll also be doing video editing and will be getting a gtx 570 to help with premieres MPU engine.
Thanks loads.
Steve
