NordVPN for Asus RT-AC66U

Hi, I'm a 71 year old, and thinking of installing the Nordvpn on my Asus RT AC66U home router. However, my concern is how it will affect and slow down my Internet speed. In my location my carrier only can provide my with 20mb on a good day. I normally see about 17mb running the speedtest.net.
The wife and I do a lot of video watching and streaming over the internet. The speed I have now is adequate for supporting both out viewing needs. However, I afraid that if the vpn slows the internet significantly, it will greatly disrupt our video quality.
I've done some due diligence wrt available vpn out there, and it seems that the nordvpn give pice to performance ratio.
I'm open to any suggestions, or recommentions before I make the leap on getting the nordvpn system.
