Normal temperatures for a athlon x2

while playing runescape my cpu got up to 60C is this normal?

Which Athlon X2? A laptop or desktop Athlon X2, or an Athlon II X2? 60°C is ok for the Athlon II X2, its max is 74°C, if it's laptop based, I'm supposing it's fine, because my Athlon X2 QL-65 has a max of 100°C, but normally it's around 70°C or 80°C at approximately 70% load. I'm not sure for original Athlon X2s though. Also... do you mean Athlon X2 Socket 939, AM2 or AM2+? Just provide the number.

That seams a little high, given that my Phenom x3 only reaches 46C under heavy load when overclocked 400 Mhz with the stock heat sink. Do you have adequate ventilation in your case, and somewhere for the warm air to go when it comes out? I have a storm scout which gives me plenty of air.

If you have the older Athlon 64 X2, then this is perfectly normal.

I have an Athlon II X3 that maxs out at about 118 F - 48C under prime95 on a stock cooler.

Are you overclocking at all?
