And... the main stream media has NEVER lied to us either..... oh wait.... CBS anchor fired because he was caught fabricating lies as news on a US President (suicide not to fire him).... CNN caught cleverly editing video to present a view that was false in comparison to the real views... multiple times. MSM chooses what to cover and what not to cover every day... they sell us FUD, sex, and misinformation when it suits them.... all for profit and political agendas. NYT reporters caught in lies, retractions buried deep within the paper to legally COA while making it very easy to miss.

RUSSIA RUSSIA RUSSIA. Certainly nothing to do with the economy or lowest unemployment records in 40 years (in history for some demographics). Nah, must be that 'We the Idiots' base everything we do on Facebook. Definitely not preemptively blaming 2018 election losses. 100% no way. I mean, how could a platform of hate hate, outrage, division, and socialism be unappealing?! No way. Those damned Russians.

The moral of this story is trust no one, get your information from multiple sources, and go back to the unedited source material whenever possible. Don't let others tell you what to think or pressure you to conform -- make up your own mind based on what you see.

The 2016 election seriously broke the USA's media. The consistent polarization and wild hyperbole in news and commentary is something I have never seen before. Disagreeing with someone is now considered an open invitation to any manner of insult and categorization. You don't have to be an activist, but you do have to stay informed to make it through the plethora of manipulation shoved in your face and the face of your friends, family, coworkers, and so on.

Sadly, Facebook is detecting their own manipulation of their own website. Facebook continues to violate privacy laws by compromising user data AND also actively blocks several conservative pages. Sad days for a once prominent and respectable social media site. The days of unbiased service to customers are long gone :(

You are so right. This is the reason why #WalkAway is so huge now. There are literally hundreds of thousands of people walking away from the left because of all the hatred and blind judgement being passed on anyone who disagrees with anything. I say come on over to the center or right. There is plenty of room for those who don't want to be violent or push their beliefs onto others ;-)

What a steaming pile of bullshit.
It seems that russians now became a scapegoat and reason for every Facebook/US gov move in attempt to censor "uncorrect" political views.
Someone has opinion against gov? Lets just pretend its "russian influencer" and ban him.

That's the wonderful irony of Trump's victory; he had everyone against him from all sides, including the Rep party, 24/7 endless lies and rubbish about him on every front page, every TV channel, lie after lie from every MSM outlet... and he still won. :D

The MSM, in their leftist bubble (97% of the WHPC were Dem supporters at the time), just did not understand what was happening across America, or why, they are so far removed from reality. Before he went a bit odd, Michael Moore summed it up well:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxDRqeuLNag

The way the media acted was much the same as happened in the UK over Brexit, and in Scotland over the independence vote; huge bias to the left, to say anything else was at best socially toxic and at worst physically dangerous, so the majority kept quiet, voted on the day, and left the media with egg on their faces, after which the media start yelling all sorts of nonsense to try and explain away the outcomes they don't understand, they claim the voters were stupid, there was interference, that somehow the vote didn't count for whatever dumb reason, etc.

The fundamental point here is that the left, as it is today, does not believe in democracy, which makes perfect sense for a collectivist approach to power.

What we're really seeing is that the "deep state" is nothing more than Washington DC and Wall Street colluding in neo-feudalism. And that's just in the US. As this movement has spread to be an international phenomenon, it has become ever more universal as a "globalist" movement.

Now, I'm not one for one-world Illuminati government stuff. But, I do acknowledged factually what I observe. And what I see is a wave of populism and totalitarianism sweeping the western world, and expanding in strength in the East as empires (China and Russia sphere's of influence). So in the end, the media and those that can financially gain/benefit from it are against the expression of free thought (MSM Fake News, shadow banning..etc).

If you actually sit down and talk with someone that voted for Trump, and fundamentally get to the answer as to "why" they voted for him, it essentially breaks down to this. He was voted in not as a man (however flawed he is as a human being), but rather as a "weapon", a political "atomic bomb" of sorts to shake up the establishment.

It makes sense when you think about it - Order/Chaos is on one axis, while Good/Evil is on another. Yes, you can have orderly good, orderly evil, chaotic good, and chaotic evil. I can cite you many examples of each. But what we have here is orderly evil. Now "good and evil" is arguably subjective depending on whom you talk with. However, the only antidote to an orderly evil system of oppression is chaos; and trump is that chaos. Trouble is, chaos being chaos, there's no guarantee of the outcome.

One of the two mentioned Alphabet soups is know for their black-ops manipulation of governmental powers, and introducing LSD to the people. The other who excused criminal behavior of a powerful political figure with the caveat that if it was anyone else they would have been nailed to the wall for the exact same act(s).

I trust the alphabet soups to keep political influence, bias, etc out of their ranks and operations as much as I trust N. Korea's current leadership to allow people to speak against them within its borders and never disappear or to be found dead.

If I go by what the media had said in 2016, I'd have to have been a lemming... as the mainstream media pegged Hillary as the winner even before the first vote was cast on election day. Nobody forced me to vote the way I did.

of course Ars Techinca has never published anything with political slant/view/bias. [/sarcasm]
