Ok so my mother went and downloaded something off of a popup ad which she thought was an upgrade to "real player" which you know was definately a virus. I was sitting around for a few hours trying to factory restore the computer without the recovery disks which apparently somehow vanished off into thin air, probably my mom threw them out like everything else she does not believe is useful. After a few hours of searching around to fix the issue i found the alt +F10 at boot up to factory reset. Well I did that then it froze, so i rebooted, then it refused to boot up afterward, just sits blankly. I went and downloaded the ultimate boot disk or whatever thinking i could totally reformat with it and I am currently sitting in the parted magic program nearly pulling my hair out wondering how i'm going to do a recovery when I can't seem to find a single step for step guide of what to do. I'm constantly being rerouted to videos and information that is not helpful or does not have any form of backround working of what i need to do. It's not like Fdisk seems to work since i can't even get into the command prompt. the computer is a gateway T-6330u with windows vista home premium x32 service pack 1

Do you care if you lose all your data? If you don't just put in the windws disc, go to bios and set boot priority for optical drive, hit next a few times and when asked where to install first format the drive then install to it. You will need another computer to download drivers most likely.

i finally got it to boot up but i still need advice on creating a new boot partition in the mean time. the virus is still on in the computer registry but im not familiar with creating boot partitions and managing them.
