I have been wondering about DDR2 memory and went look for them in online stores and couldn't much. Price watch doesn't seem have DDR2 memory listed all. All I found was 1 set for DDR2 memory from newegg. Which was $285 for 2x256 MB, quite expensive.

Are these intel MB/chipsets going have DDR2 memory around for them in good quanity anytime soon? Seems like most of the new MB/chipsets use DDR2, would be hard to build comps with alot of DDR2 memory out...

Heya

Very few manufactures have even released DDR2 for retail sales as of yet, Corsair is probably one that has, possibly Kingston, samsung or micron as well, but dont expect to see these modules in high quantities for atleast 3 more months, probably more likely 6 more months, they havent even started full scale production yet. Considering the LGA775 CPU isnt even for retail sale yet, when the LGA 775 is ready the memory will be available in quantities large enough to handle the demand. Intel is pretty much staking their future on the success of the LGA 775 technology i doubt they would allow the memory industry to screw them on such an important thing as the future of their company.

Science is stranger then fiction, perhaps there is a conspiracy against intel. All the memory manufactures are plotting to put intel under in an attempt to raise up ATI as the new supreme leader in CPU dominance...but somehow i doubt it -=P

IM such a smart ass i know, but i cant help it sometimes haha.

<Archer> Cant this thing go any faster, I thought this was a Warp 5 Engine?

<Trip> Yeah, on paper...

I think the lack of CPU's for the new motherboards poses a somewhat larger problem.

Plsu I dont think everybody will rush out to go buy new MOBOS/CPU/MEM...Also theres gonna be quite a few transitionnal product supporting DDR and DDRII.
I dont expect the demand to be that high for DDRII at leats in the near future. IMO it wont takeoff b4 DDRII 667 hit the shelf, thats when the real performance increase over DDR will justify switching to DDRII

Bah I want to buy an athlon64 system however finding an avaliable mobo has been a real problem. Problem being there is only 1 mobo that supports S939. And for all I know it is not rleased yet. NCIX.com dosn't have it in stock. This is garbage I want to buy a new computer fo Doom3/HL2 but I can't even get my hands on a proper mobo not to mention a x800 XT which seems to have been supposed to come out a while back.

And whats the deal with DDR2 is that shite only for intel chips/mobo's.

And when is PCI-e going to come out. I don't want to buy a high end system now just for it to become the previous generation in 2 months.

In the UK the X800 and a few socket 939motherboards are availiable. If you can get em here you should be able to get them in the USA.

looks like u'll be waiting for ever then. New technology is always being developed, so with that attitude to buying you won't ever make a purchase.
