So the gist of the story is that this is my first computer build and I was trying to install the cpu (i7-6700k) and was hesitant at first since i felt that it was too tense when i placed down the metal bracket that secures the cpu. As a result, I dumbly tried to take out the cpu as a means to avoid any damage what so ever but in the end this is the picture i took to see if i bent any of the pins.

Forgot to mention that the motherobard is an AsRock Z170 Pro 4.

Yes the red circle you have in your photo shows misaligned pins and will cause issues. You can very carefully realign the pin with a toothpick or micro pliers.
Returning the MB, as is would void your Warranty.
Inspect the rest of the socket with a magnifier for any others that are depressed or misaligned.

I've literally been at it the entire day but it has only moved slightly. I would like to try and see if it can boot up but I'm guessing that would run the risk of frying my new i7-6700k that I spent a fortune on.

In the end I just bought another motherboard and plan on returning the other one so that I can test the other components before they go past the return period. The new board is a Gigabyte Z170-HD3 so i hope it goes better.
