Nothing loads after scheduled chkdsk /f

Hello, my favorite tech forum!

Sorry to greet you in such a selfish manner (yes, I made the account solely for this issue and yes, I am desperate).

Today I ran chkdsk because my hard drive cloning software kept failing. I ran chkdsk /f, it said it couldn't be executed due to the volume already being in use (???) so it scheduled it for the next reboot. I rebooted and now nothing loads. No cursor, not even my PC's signal to the screen, which means no safe mode available (this is where my problem differs from others who have had similair problems). I am running Windows 8.1 on an SSD drive alongside a HDD for extra space.

Any help is deeply appreciated. Thanks.

Hey there, YungStunna!

I'd recommend you to use an SSD and an HDD-specific diagnostic tools to check up on their health and SMART status, instead of using chkdsk. Unfortunately, it only works with mechanical hard drives and it's not really a recommended method to monitor your HDD as it could potentially further the damage (especially if it's physical). The best tool to check up on your hard drive would be the original manufacturer's diagnostic tool, which you should be able to find easily on their website.
I'd still suggest you to take a look at these threads from the community for some third-party testing tool suggestions:
SSD diagnostics: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-1926483/ssd-diagnostic-tools.html
In case you cannot find the manufacturer's HDD diagnostic utility: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/282651-32-best-diagnostic-testing-utility

Keep me posted with the results!

This entire thread was a mistake I could only have made at 2 am. I have two monitors, apparently chkdsk used the secondary which was turned off. Sorry to waste anyone's time, I shall retire in shame.
