We have a NT 4.0 BDC with RAS installed, until now we
have only had Win98 clients dialing in and this seems to
be functioning OK. Over the past month I have been
attempting to get a Windows XP Pro notebook (which is a
member of the domain) to dial in with no success.

The notebook dials and RAS picks up OK however we are
disconnected with an error '619' while verifying Username
& Password. As the RAS server is working with Win98
clients I have spent most of my efforts looking into the
XP client options however Im still at a loss as to why I
cant get it to correctly authenticate.

Any suggestions?

This behavior can occur if the RRAS server is joined to a Windows 2000
domain. If the RRAS server is not properly added to the Active Directory,
client connections are not possible.

thanks, but as stated in my first post we are running a
WinNT 4.0 domain not 2K, therefore Active Directory is
not an option. Any other suggestions?

Hi Paul,

Check this link bellow it looks like a driver problem with Windows XP,

"Error 721," "Error 678," "Error 691," or "Error 777" error message when
you try to establish a dial-up connection after you upgrade to Windows XP
