a partition on a external hdd of mine has problem with MFT. i tried using minitool partition wizard but i get this message "parameter not specified";

anyone know what to do to solve this?

Hey there, QuestinMarks!

Have you attempted running CHKDSK prior to the third-party partition tool? I'd recommend you use your HDD manufacturer's diagnostic tool and check up on the health and SMART data of your external drive. In case you are not able to find such a utility on their website, you can refer to this thread from the community with some third-party suggestions: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/282651-32-best-diagnostic-testing-utility
I'd also suggest you to go to Disk Management and check how the external appears there. Try to right-click on its volume and change the drive letter. Here's a tutorial that can walk you through the procedure: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=iZjBJ8

Hope it helps! Let me know how it goes! :)

My hdd doesn't have diagnostic tool so i used hdd tune. i used the "scan error" option and it told me that there was a problem with the entire hdd, which is strange because i can still use it.

Also why do i have to change the letter?

Hi again, QuestinMarks!

If the diagnostic tool says there is a problem, you should probably contact the HDD manufacturer's technical support and ask for assistance. If your external is still covered by the warranty, you should be able to RMA it and get a replacement from them.
As for changing the drive letter, it's a safe way to try to get your EXTERNAL HDD to be recognized and detected by Windows. (Though, keep in mind that this procedure works like that only on externally connected drives!).

Since you can still use your drive, I'd recommend you to back up all your data from there and consider getting in touch with your HDD's support.

Good luck!
