Okay , a newb with a dumb question , Im looking to build my first rig with the quad core qx6700 and Nvidia gtx 8800. Im not really interested in overclocking right now or sli and I am concerned about the stability issues of the 680i motherboard from evga so I was wondering if the nvidia 8800 gtx card will work in a intel 965 / 975 chipset motherboard?

Thanks

I want to get the 680 i mobo but im scared being my first build , are these justified concerns?
I have heard that they have some issues with those boards but as far as i know the fix is up online and if you have the board with the older bios all you have to do is just update the bios of the board.

If you are concerned and you have not done anything like that before just go with the safe choice. If you willing to risk a little than go with the 680i. I would but i built many computers before so i am not afraid of a little bumpy ride at the beginning. :)

I have the board and the problem was not stabiliy issues but running 2 or more SATA drives. The 680I is the best mobo you can buy im a first time OCer and i found it extremely easy to install, get running and start OCing! im at 3.2Ghz with an E6400(400FSB) and it has not once crashed on me for the month ive been running it at this speed.

Aslo note when u plug in an 7900GTX,8800GTS/GTX linkboost is enabled automatically giving you +25 - +50 increase in the PCI-E speed.
