News Nvidia announces NVLink Fusion to allow custom CPUs and AI Accelerators to work with its products

With Nvidia I'd want to carefully study the fine print on what exactly this means in terms of IP blocks and licenses and if this goes as far as being truly open sourced (not even Nvidia might actually own everything required), but otherwise it seems like a genius move, much like Google opening Kubernetes to kill the container competition and pushing CXL into a Docker corner for a bad attempt of an analogy.

What I am somewhat curious about is the role NVlink issues play a role in the delay of the Nvidia-Mediatek Digit SoC and if those troubles are a motivation for this "opening" to keep the competition moving away from the dominance Nvidia was hoping for.

Philanthropy just isn't what team green is known for, "open" as a weapon more their style.
