nvidia display settings are not available you are not using a display attached to an nvidia gpu

Im getting this error "nvidia display settings are not available you are not using a display attached to an nvidia gpu". The laptop has a nvidia gt540m in it. The gpu is being picked up by the OS as it is discovered in device manager, and device manager claims for it to be working.
- This on on windows 8.1

Did you install the Drivers correctly? try uninstalling and installing them again.

I have done, several times :/ I've tried the beta ones as well.

I don't use windows 8 but try opening run and write dxdiag in it and tell me what is written in display tab.

See in display tab it is showing Intel graphic card instead of Nvidia. let me get back at you.

Try going into your BIOS settings and try to find something like this "init First Display" or something that says integrated graphics or onboard graphics and change it to external graphic or pci-e. See if that helps. If can't find try sending a BIOS setting pic too.

Ok, so I went to the bios and these are my graphic options; It was already on switchable.

When i click "Open NVidia control panel". The Nvidia geforce experience software isn't detecting the gpu either

Well do you have .Net Frame work /C++ redistribute latest version. And after that open run like before and write "msconfig" without quotation marks and go to services tab, check box hide all microsoft services and see Nvidia Display Driver Service check if it is disabled, if it is enable it again then try restarting. Hope this helps.

It was already enabled, I think I may have to go back to windows 7. Acer aren't supporting windows 8.1 on this laptop which is really annoying.

Well Windows 8.1 is what can you say ",all looks and no good" and doesn't have support like windows 7. Sorry it didn't worked out for you 🙁
