I have a Nvidia Ge Force 8300 GS on my Dell Inspiron 531 computer (with Vista service pack 1) and experienced a major problem with the display-everything appears much too big like it would in the safe mode, with vertical yellow lines across the monitor,or if I try to start my computer after a few days the picture completely coved with colourful lines and squares. The device manager indicates there is a problem with my graphic card(shown with a yellow triangle), the diagnostic program tells me that the device has a configuration problem that prevents it from working properly the device Nividia Geforce 8300 is reporting ‘’tv_configMgrErr43’’ . I have tired searching for solutions on the internet I understand, my computer has a problem to update nvidia. I went to Nvidia website and directly downloaded a driver for videocard but it didn’t work.I have tried again and again, still there is a yellow triangle and distorted picture, the new driver is not accepted by Microsoft system. Whilst looking for help I found many others had written on help forums experiencing the same problem regarding a Nvidia Ge Force 8300. Unfortunately there was nobody who provided a solution,in my opinion there must be some problem with this product which appears after Windows automatic system updates, what to do now? replacement?

It is possible that the video card is indeed defective. If your Dell is under warranty, contact them for a replacement. If it is not under warranty you have some options.

First, remove the video card from its slot in the motherboard. Before doing this power the system down and disconnect all power sources (power cable, monitor, and powered speakers) and devices (keyboard, mouse, etc). Once the card is removed, reinsert it, reconnect everything and power your system on. This process will force your computer to re-initialize itself as if a new card has been installed.

Second, you could also remove the 8300GS and use your motherboard's integrated video adapter.

Third, you could buy a new video card and install it.

Good luck!
