NVIDIA GeForce 9400 GT and i7 4770 processor

I am getting a new PC with the following guts:
* Intel Core i7-4770 Haswell 3.4GHz (3.9GHz turbo) Quad-Core 8000K
* Intel Socket 1150/1155 CPU fan
* ASUS H87M-E, Onboard Video, HD Audio, GB LAN, USB3.0, HDMI & DVI
* 16GB PC12800 DDR3 1600 Dual Channel
* HD Onboard 3D graphics Dual head, HDMI (only if listed with board)
* 120.0 GB SSD Samsung 840 EVO Series Solid State Drive, SATA3 6.0Gb/s, 530MBs
* 1TB Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM SATA3 6GB/s 64m Cache
* LG Blu-ray 12X Recorder,16x DVD Recorder SATA combo drive
* Realtek HD digital audio (onboard)* Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit DVD w/SP1

I currently have a NVIDIA GeForce 9400 GT in a current PC running Windows XP and thought about putting this card in my new PC, but wanted to know if that will make a difference given the NVIDIA is several years old and the i7-4770 has built in video. I am not going to be gaming, but I am going to be doing video editing. I also have a 500GB Seagate hard drive that I can put in this system to make 3 drives, Partition this drive and create a bootable partition of Windows 7.

it will work with that card fine, but seems like a high spec wasted with that card, i would at least drop $169.99 on a 7850 1gb card

My understanding is that given that I am not a gamer, the i7-4770 processor is fast enough, with it's built in video card will be able to tackle video editing and rendering with no problem. If you are telling me buying a higher end video card will be a game changer for video editing and rendering, then that's different. Given the fact that there is really not much to do with my current PC after I get my new one, I thought I would try to use as many components as possible. I am still wondering if the GeForce 9400 GT will be an asset in my new system, improving video, or not.

it depends what programs you are using,if you are using windows movie maker, yes stick with the 9400 gt. But if you are using a program like after effects, it supports rendering with opengl and cuda, which will reduce the render times

I am using Corel VideoStudio Pro X6 and Cyberlink PowerDirector, and Handbrake as well. If these programs will render faster with a video card, which ones can you recommend? I need to keep price in mind as well.

Ahh, you will be fine with the 9400gt, it will have better performance than the intel hd graphics. i use power director (11) alot and it is poorly optimised for GPU rendering. I have an i5 and a 7870 and still hangs when rendering 1080p video, so it doesnt really matter what the spec is
