Hi guys, I repair pc as a side job so you can guess my skill is rather intermideate.
However I encounter this problem with samsung SA100 monitor that reject my gt8500 graphic card.
its not a new gpu but working fine with other PC and various monitor CRT and LCD.
But with this particular monitor, whenever I plug in vga or DVI with vga adapter bios will give me gpu error beep. Connect with other LCD and it boot fine.

Ill try to update this as detail as possible
this is the PC spec:
Monitor: Samsung syncmaster SA100 (only got VGA port, no DVI or HDMI)
card: Nvidia GT8500, GT610, 7800, ATI 4380
Motherboard: Asus P5QL Pro, Intel P43 chipset, no built in VGA
PSU: Seasonic S-Series 620W
RAM: kingston Hyperx 4gb kit (2gb x2)
Hard disk: 120gb Samsung EVO 840, WD Green 1TB
situation 1:
upgrade to gpu GT630 beacuse old GPU failed
tested on crt monitor (conveniently available), everything up and running,
tested on actual Samsung SA100 monitor, seems start to windows (hear windos sound) but no display, no bios either
tested the card on another PC also same problem and returned to vendor for replacement.
situation 2:
waiting for the replacement, I put old GT8500 ( which used to be working fine with above mentioned pc)
No Joy
put another old Nvidia 7800 belonged to another PC; start showing bios and load windows.
situation 3:
put back GT8500 to asus board and start with samsung monitor, it gave me 1 long 3 short beep code (indicating gpu error), no display
restart and swap with another 3 display, each with restart between swap, viewsonic, dell & benq; ALL show bios and successfully load windows
situation 4:
put ATI 4380 (this one using extra 6 pin power)
connect to samsung, it start to bios and load to windows
situation 5:
put GT610 and connected to samsung
beep 1 long 3 short, then another 1 nornal beep, no display but seems to start windows (hear windows sound)
tested with 3 other monitor and display load flawlessly
situatuon 6:
tested gt8500 on other PC with same samsung monitor; no diplay
tested GT610 on other pc with same samsung monitor: no display
tested another PC with built in intel HD3000 display; have display
summary:
nvidia GT8500: X
nvidia 7800: Y
ATI 4380: Y
nvidia GT610: X
other pc intel HD3000: Y
other tweak:
tested with different plugs & power point: no joy
upgrade bios on asus P5QL also no joy
I'm now writing this on the same samsung SA100 monitor connected with my other PC with intel HD3000 vga after swapping with my viewsonic monitor
so as you can see I cannot all say the GPU is all bad or the monitor is bad
I am at my wits end
please help
