I have a HP Elite 3800 16gb RAM i-7 3700, Win 8.1. Just updated the BIOS. Just bought a cheap Nvidia gt710 for dual monitor, light video processing. I have a working monitor connected via VGA. The second monitor is connected from the card's DVI-D port to the second monitor's DVI-D port via DVI cable. When I power the PC up, the DVI connected monitor shows the HP bootscreen, then goes black. PC won't complete boot to the DVI connected monitor alone The VGA monitor works fine. I've tried all the usual tactics: Detecting the monitor in Windows settings, using the nVidia control panel to try to force detect.. nothing's worked so far... Any help is much appreciated.

Does your model have VGA and DVI?
Is your VGA and DVI to GPU?
Not sure for bios options have option to enable/disable onboard (this also might cause issues).
If your motherboard has VGA have you tried motherboard connector and GPU DVI?
Sorry if i have dumb questions just checking because you havent mentioned.

Yes, the GT 710 card has VGA, DVI-D and HDMI. I have the VGA and DVI-D connected to the card (GPU), as the monitors (HP S2031) do not have HDMI capability. The integrated video is disabled in BIOS. I have tried to connect to the on-board VGA with the GPU VGA connected as well, no bueno...

It's really strange... When I boot, the DVI connected monitor displays the HP boot screen and initial Windows splash screen, and if I enter Bios, it's displayed there. However, once the computer is finished booting, only the VGA monitor will work, and I can't get the DVI connected monitor to identify/operate... grrrr.... Thanks for your help sir... :)

SO, I started to play around a bit, and I enabled the "Integrated Video" in BIOS. I then connected the non-working monitor to the on-board VGA port, and now I have both working... WTF... The colors are a bit off, and I shouldn't have to go through all this, but I'll see if I can tweek it...

Thanks again for your help Bob Ban... 😉
