I have a Nvidia GTX 780 Superclocked ACX and am wondering if both of the plug ins on top of the card need to be used. I was using the right plug in on it, but am just wondering if a second one is needed if I am just using one video card or if this plug in is for SLI. The plug in I am not using is the left one.

My PSU has two VGA plugs, so should I use the second one along with the first VGA plug for just one video card?

Solution
Before we need to know what kind of PSU you have. The GTX 780 needs 42amps on the 12v rail and at least 600w minimum. Make sure your PSU is good enough for it.
I have a 750W PSU.

Heheheh. I can't believe I thought that thing on the top covered by rubber was decoration. Looks like I figured out my problem, but just in case, will wait for more answers until tomorrow. Gotta love beginner mistakes on a first build!
