Quite worried about my GTX480 as it can hit up to 100 degrees under load even with the fan on 100%. Is there anything I can do to help reduce the temps of it? What are safe temperatures for it to run at? Usually running at around 60 degrees idle.
Thanks

If that's a 100 in Celsius then there is cause to worry. Do you have good air flow in your case? How's your cable management? Your case isn't cluttered is it? Do you use a program to manage your fan speed like afterburner or Evga Precision tool? Have you tried cleaning it?

Yeah 100 celcius. I just tried cleaning up the inside of the case and there was a lot of built up dust which I've removed most of. Still hitting around 80 or so under load which still seems high to me? Yeah I use afterburner and generally have the fan on 100% when playing games / under load, etc. How can I use thermal grease on a video card? Also, should I think about getting a specialist cooler for my card? What is the best available for the 480GTX right now?

Wow.That must have been A LOT of dust for the temps to drop 20c.
80c is normal for a GTX480.They were some of the hottest cards ever made.

It depends on how long you've had the card for.If you've only had it for a couple months chances are it would only drop temps by like 3c.Their are plenty of how to guides on youtube for applying thermal paste.

Here's a bunch of different coolers from Arctic Cooling.Make sure to look that the cooler supports your GTX480.

One of my 480's gets up to 105c all the time. At 107 it shuts down. Gonna redo the paste on it or use it as an excuse to buy a new card.
