This is a silly thread that is ultimately a non-issue. I'm a BA, and we are always striving for efficiency in everything - so with new ideas and implementation we end up finding out that X and Y appear not to like each other. In order to fix one or the other, we give them the gift of missing the other to develop their personalities a bit on their own before joining them again to see what happens.
This is all that NV has requested. Switch off that particular character trait and let us go back to the drawing board before we come back to try again.
This is how you get to the best solution, through multiple iterations of trials and tests. I will support NVidia like I have done for their efficiency and performance overall. I'm not bashing AMD though - I really think Fury X is a step in the right direction - they're just not appealing to my sense of "this electricity is expensive here!" - and that is a big enough reason for me to always choose NV over AMD since I'm not changing GPUs every 4 months.
I have a good sense of humour and when I started reading your post I saw the abbreviation BA and though "What does a Bachelor of Arts have to do with this and striving for efficiency", then I moved onto "X" and "Y" and immediately though of men and women and laughed at how my initial interpretation of "X" and "Y" fitted the rest of the paragraph.
Then came "NV" and I had to reassess what I was reading, still giggling from my mistake.
Just showing how easy it is to take a written message and read into it something unintentional. Not meaning that anyone is incorrect with their interpretation, just not to take things like this thread too seriously. We are entitled to our own opinions and just don't force it down someone else's throat
This is a new line of graphic cards with more new technology coming soon, add in new software being developed to be shared between two rival companies. Throw into this mix a lot of passionate people and we have a very healthy debate.
Best to wait and see how it all unfolds. Then we can all debate the pro's and con's about something else.
Let you in on a little secret, did you know that to much stress and worry can be major factors leading to a quicker death (higher blood pressure and pulse, incorrect diet and eating patterns, poor sleeping patterns, et cetera), but laughter can be major factor in helping to prolong life (more relaxed physically and mentally, lower blood pressure and pulse, better digestion, much better sleeping patterns, et cetera).
So to quote from this message "This is how you get to the best solution, through multiple iterations of trials and tests." and I will wait, check out the outcomes from reviews and tests, wait until someone has it relatively fixed, then make up my own mind as to whether there is value for the money and if it is worth upgrading according to my own set of parameters. Both brands have pro's and con's, I have swapped back and forward (AMD and Nvidia) depending on how much I have to spend and what best suits me, Let's just wait and see and hopefully the customers will come out on top..
As for electricity usage, we have a large solar array, and have received credits instead of bills most of the time, and is not something I normally factor in (we have 2 pool pumps, in floor heating plus 3x aircons and 4x fridges, et cetera, all in a large house, occasionally we get a bill, so far none over $100 - fingers crossed).
