Guys why no Maxwell at CES 2014 Nvidia press event?
Really bummed out about that :pfff:
What are those guys waiting for?
Any ideas when are we going to have some info?
I really can't decide whether to go and buy GTX 780 Ti or wait for Maxwell...it would really suck if I buy 780 Ti now :fou:and Maxwell kick its butt in a few months

Gauge if you need it now; if you want superior gaming performance now, you should go for the 780Ti. Otherwise, I would seriously consider waiting for the 800 series to come out. Supposedly the maxwell launch in Q1 will include low end maxwells with 28nm manufacturing process, not 20nm. The 20nm revision will most likely come at a later time, at Q3/Q4. It is speculated that only until then will you get the high end Maxwell's in 20nm. If you want to wait, you'll be waiting a long time. Don't worry about performance now though. The 780Ti will still kick butt no matter what time it is. It depends on the game and resolutions your playing in. For example if you want to play the latest Battlefield in 2560 x 1440 or even 5760 x 1080, then there may be a merit to waiting for the 800 series. Alternatively, you could sell the 780Ti and try to recoup some of that money to help fund your next purchase. There is a reason that GPUs last as long as they do - so that you can get the most out of your purchase. Hope this helps!

Actually it did, thanks. Didn't know they were gonna ship low end maxwells first, that sucks 🙁. I currently own a GTX 680 (ASUS DIRECT CU II OC), do you still think I should upgrade to 780 Ti now?

No, I don't think you should upgrade now unless you have cash to burn.

A 680 is still a very respectable card and should not be struggling too much in most games @ 1080P.

I would at least wait to see if Nvidia announces anything in the next few weeks since you already have a 680 and don't need to rush.

I waited when I bought my 780 2 months ago (waited for Hawaii to drop) and as a result I saved $240.

Yeah, I think you are right. I guess I'll wait, no need to rush anything, after all I only game at 1080P so I'm good for now.
I don't know about you guys but the wait to get new tech is always so hard for me hh :pt1cable:

Me too. I just pulled the trigger on a 780ti classified. km still rolling on a 560ti classified and wanted to wait for the 880gtx but the 20nm stuff which is what everyone wants isnt gonna be out till end of this year or next year. So I couldnt wait any longer lol. If I had a 680 i would def wait.

Haha, congratz bro, enjoy it ! :)) And thanks for the support hh :)

My 780ti doesnt go over 60c at the stock classified clocks and I've taken it to 1250mhz core and it hasnt throttled at all. Plus with the dual bios if you flash one bios to a custom one that rids the throttling issue and gives a unlocked voltage.

well it depends on how nvidia want to play their card. back in CES 2012 nvidia also did not show anything related to kepler.

so what are they waiting for? most likely nvidia wants AMD to make the first move and then adjusted their product position in accordance to amd product. the launch of 600 series proved that even coming later than AMD they can still grab more market share from AMD. anyway i heard rumors about AMD might not be quick to jump into new process this time unlike they always did in the past. if this rumors are true and nvidia really wants AMD to show their cards first both company could drag their next gen launch into next year 😀

waitt wait maxwell will be a big improvement over current generation like 600 shows big improvement over 500 series. If u buy now i am sure u will see something in next few months performing better than 780ti at around $400. I remember when a mid range 660 beats 580

The classifieds are overclocked one of the highest cards out there so dont expect 700mhz more overclocking. But being able to pull over 1300mhz on air is pretty damn good considering stock clocks are as low as they are. PLUS once put under water and load up a custom bios it can go farther. Its truly an amazing card. I never buy anything but the classified models from evga. I mean with my 560ti classy overclocked it was running 55+ fps on bf4 high....thats pretty damn good in multiplayer.

I had a HD 7750 1 GB DDR3 and just got a 760. So I'm gonna by a 870 or 880 when it comes out with a 1440 monitor. Playing BF4 with the 7750 was horrible.
