[citation][nom]icemunk[/nom]nvidia's in a world of hurt these days, they don't know how to get along with others (IE: Intel)[/citation]

nVIDIA is doing just fine. Unless (other than lack of the GF100) you can prove otherwise.

That would be all the proof you need! LOL

[citation][nom]climber[/nom]So now Nvidia is "more than meets the eye"?[/citation]

If they weren't, they'd be in trouble. Not much is meeting the eye lately.

[citation][nom]Blessedman[/nom]I am not 100% sure the leaked benchmarks I saw of fermi, but if they are to be true... Fermi is going to trounce the 5970, which is what it should do considering its size and transistor count. Optimus sounds weird... LOL[/citation]

Can you post a link to these benchmarks? If it was these

You have been misled, they have been proved bogus. At the moment Nvidia Fermi is all smoke and mirrors.

more proof that Nvidia has been too busy on the mobile front rather than fine tuning and releasing their gf100, at least now we know they will be releasing a good gf100 product and maybe the delay was a tactic of quantity vs quality vs ATi... they have been working on the Tegra, tegra2, NF200, ion and now the Optimus....

I'm never going to buy Nvidia again. Sometime last year i bought a Dell M6300 laptop off of ebay for 750$. It came with a X9000 2.8ghz Core 2 Duo Extreame Penryn, which alone still goes for about $500 on ebay. The laptop also came with a 500gb HDD, and a Nvidia Quadro 1600m, and 4gb of RAM, which i later upgrraded to 8. Nvidia is total trash. The Quadro 1600m is a high end card, wich provided low end speeds whenver I use CAD.

Woah there bubba! Slow down a minute. The card you stated is a higher end card for laptops. No one every said you could get a really fast workstation card for a laptop. If someone did THEY LIED! If you think that is slow check the performance of the ATI fire series laptop card!!!!! Nvidia in this case is a much better choice. Just if you need more power spend the money and get the best. BUT, my suggestion is if you are going for speed inside of CAD or other like software GET A DESKTOP with a Quadro Desktop wokstation card. But get ready they are WAY expensive!

[citation][nom]tacoslave[/nom]intel launching that next month along with ati and their new "bumblebee".[/citation]

IIRC, the "fake" Fermi card Nvidia/JHH showed last time looked closely to bumblebee. (Nevermind the wood screws and the blocked fan exhaust though).

Ah, I love it. Hate on Nvidia and it's guaranteed + 20 for you. Lol Nvidia Fermi lulz haha I'm awesome now. One big fanboy circle-jerk.

How about just wait another month and see how things look when GF100 finally makes it here, and then come up with an opinion based on facts, instead of stupid rumors.

[citation][nom]apache_lives[/nom]Also get the feeling Fermi is going to be a hot power hungry monster and will require another basic card/igp to counter the idle power/heat levels etc meaning as originally thought, optimus will be a renamed hybrid sli like design for it.[/citation]

"Get the feeling?" No, you don't. You have nothing to base any "feeling" on; you're just listening to the same rumors everyone's already heard. And considering they just said Optimus is for a mobile GPU...reading comprehension FTW.

Pick either side at this point, green or red, and you're running the risk of really making yourself look like an idiot once the rumors are proved or discredited.

[citation][nom]coolronz[/nom]i think nvidia is out of breathe here.... sounds like a rebranding scheme to me.. alot more of nothing! way to go Nvidia...[/citation]

Wow, they've been in the lead for years. Now, just a few months of being number two, they are out of breath? I realize your an ATI fanboy, but you still need to be realistic and fair. That should make you unique among all your fellow clones. I think ATI has been out of breath for years and are still. They currently have freezing issues w/ their video cards. That seems to me like someone who is hardly staying afloat.

Interesting article on Fudzilla on this topic, apparently Optimus will work along side Intel intergrated graphics in the i3,i5 offerings allowing them to actually compete with AMD in this area. So it seems Intel and Nvidia have kissed and made up.

R840 is approximately 8 watts at idle + FB is approximately 9.6 watts at idle, for a total of 17.6 watts. Optimus CULV+GT215 , is a total 8 watts at idle, as GT215 is electrically off. 8 watts compared to 17.6 watts is more than 2x power savings."

That's at the bottom of the previous link.

*The breakthrough seems to be that the GT215 (the gaming GPU) is turned off completely. It sounds a lot like the HybridPower technology that went by the wayside a few years back.

Now give me a desktop with CULV+Fermi so that that I can have my SLI Fermi cards turned off completely when not in use. I'm expecting 2x40W for the cards I want in Idle. By my calculations the computer I build would be 160W with a Fermi SLI in Idle or 80W if the cards used ZERO power. 160W versus 80W is a big deal! (My numbers are estimated but probably close).

NVidia. Bring me Fermi HybridPower!!

(Otherwise I think I'll just keep my current PC, 4GB/X2-4800+/HD3870 for now and get the next XBox in 2012 or so. Project Natal, no PC problems etc is swinging me around. Give me mouse+Keyboard too on the next XBox and I'm gone from PC gaming.)
